Yosemite Trips
Weekend Yosemite Retreats – Writing in Nature
I’ve been going to Yosemite all my life and worked there for two years for Yosemite Institute so I’m really excited to share this place I love with others, especially during times there are fewer visitors so you can really feel the peace and power of the place. These are three full days and traveling by train makes them very relaxing from the start. We arrive at the lodge at noon on Friday with time to write, relax, enjoy a walk or the spa. We will work with writing to connect more deeply to the natural world and our inner wisdom. No writing experience is needed.
For all the trips we will stay at the Yosemite Bug Resort, www.yosemitebug.com in Midpines, 25 miles outside Yosemite Valley. We will have our own cabin divided into two very nice rooms each having three beds and it’s own bathroom. Meals are separate (you can either cook in the resort kitchen or there is a really good cafe on site). There is also a lovely spa that offers a $10 day pass to the hot tub, sauna, rainwater shower, tea and pampering. We will write together Friday afternoon and evening and Sunday morning. We will take the bus into Yosemite Valley on Saturday and spend that day wandering, writing and absorbing the beauty and creative inspiration of the place.
Traveling by Train Trips
All the trips now are Traveling by Train Trips. This three day trip leaves early Friday morning to take Amtrak’s San Joaquin route boarding in Martinez if you are coming from Sonoma County or Emeryville if you are coming from San Francisco. Amtrax provides bus service connecting with the train from both Sonoma Countand San Francisco. We will start the writing workshop on the train on Friday and wrap it up on return trip. (Contact me for travel details from your location).
Yosemite Valley is at the 4000′ elevation so by mid February what little snow that fall is usually gone or there is just a bit of slush on the paths.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings, Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. – John Muir
