Writing Journey to Sacred Sites at Winter Solstice & Christmas
Newgrange, Boyne River Valley and Glendalough,Wicklow Mountains
Experience the Enchantment of the Ancient Ireland

In Dublin we will visit  Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, the amazing illuminated manuscripts, written around the year 800 AD, that contains a richly decorated copy of the four gospels. We will in in the Valley of the River Boyne staying near Newgrange, one of Ireland’s the most famous prehistoric sites where on winter solstice a a narrow beam of sunlight illuminates the floor of the burial chamber at the end of the long passageway. We will also explore some of the less visited passage tombs and the important sacred sites throughout the Valley including the Hill of Tara, the ancient home of the high kings of Ireland. In Drogheda, a small city where the River Boyne flows into the sea, we will find a rich array of historic sites and have a chance visit pubs to hear traditional music. We will travel to Glendalough, a fascinating monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin, a hermit monk, set in a spectacular natural setting. The area is ideal for walking at all levels. Lonely Planet calls Glendalough “truly one of the most beautiful places in Ireland. Suzanne will offer writing sessions for those interested and will be available for individual guidance as well as sharing her love for the land, people, culture and history. We will  support and celebrate each other’s journey while also enjoying time for individual exploration. We will stay in hostels where we will meet other travelers and there will also be time to wander on your own and slip into pubs and cafes to meet locals.
